We are the Madison area chapter of the American Recorder Society (ARS). There are about a dozen players who meet weekly to sight read a variety of music. We welcome new members!
These meetings are usually devoted to reading selections from our music library of Renaissance, Baroque, and contemporary pieces. Several times a year we hire a professional coach to help us prepare a performance. Music is provided, so all you need is your instrument and a music stand.
If you’re not ready for group playing, ARS offers free online recorder instruction for beginners. This is a great way to get started. Once you’re ready, group playing is a great way to expand your abilities in a casual, supportive setting.
We meet on Monday nights from 7:00-9:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1904 Winnebago St, Madison, WI. Please email to plan a visit to observe or play.
